For the apartment complex in Shekou, China, the investors required a special representative appearance, because this is a residential settlement for foreign employees. The area is situated in a mountain ridge which is an interesting, however, difficult topography.

The design has been conceived according to the rules of the traditional Chinese philosophy, which has been put into a modern context.

Water features were used to soften the significant differences in height. Calm water surfaces reflect the residential complex whilst wild cascades of water accompany the resident climbing alongside.

The central idea for this design was the interdependence between man and nature: in the inner courtyard the mountain with its formed nature penetrates into the residential area. Large parts of the facility were erected on two-level underground garages.
