As a result of the widening of the shipping channel of the Dortmund-Ems canal (DEK) in accordance with the “ Euro-Schleppverbände” valuable areas for recreation within the city of Münster will disappear. The administration of the city of Münster recognized the issue and commissioned our office at an early stage to make a concept study.
At first the existing recreation facilities were analysed and subsequently criteria were defined and applied for substitute areas. A natural open-air swimming pool was designed and a concept developed for the port to be used as a water experience area. The estimated costs according to DIN 276 laid out the financial requirements.
