In 2012, 60% of the energy consumed in the town of Sendenhorst came from renewable sources. In order to actively support the desired energy change and in recognition of the modified “Windenergieerlass NRW 2011” Sendenhorst decided to make a study of its wind energy potential.
First of all a list was made of all the the areas in Sendenhorst which are tabu or restricted.
Taking into account the above, as well as potential opposition and environmental and wild life legal protection legislation, a study was made after which two areas were recommended for wind energy Generation.
