The Saporishsa-Platz in Alt Oberhausen is a link between the main railway station and the town centre. The new design of the square should combine various functions: an area for relaxation, a representative entrance to the town centre, an area for the Volkshochschule (adult education centre) and retention of the existing parking spaces are important planning considerations.

The design of the square offers an area for performances, several “exhibition spaces”: lawns, surrounded with walls suitable for seating, form a green element in the town.
