In order to improve the conflict situation at the only still-water of the city of Osnabrück, the Rubbenbruchsee, potential solutions should be found for the situation. In addition to the upgrading of the existing facility, consideration is given also to the Hase, the Zweigkanal, various smaller water-filled excavations, larger rainwater collection basins and a new natural swimming lake.
With suitability and exclusion criteria the consultant examined locations for a future swimming possibility. Four locations with different overall ranking regarding their suitability for a new installation were identified. The results of a citizens survey were taken into account.
